KNOWING THY ENEMY! TOM BAKER's 'DOCTOR WHO' IS BACK FOR CHRISTMAS!

The Time Lord and the huntress- Tom Baker and Louise Jameson come together for DOCTOR WHO. Image: BBC.

Acting as welcome tonic to what will surely be another over the top with ideas, over stylised, over acted piece of Christmas silliness with the Peter Capaldi/ Alex Kingston starring The Husbands of River Song, fans of DOCTOR WHO who want to experience the series in its more serious and gritty, thought-provoking science fiction/fantasy days, acted with conviction above and beyond its studio limitations and of-their-time special effects - "The Classic Era" - will surely be shouting Hallelujah! to the UK's BBC 4 channel during the middle of Christmas, as they air a four-part gem from season's past (1977, to be exact), with two episodes each over two night's (the 28th and 29th December, at 7pm) with Chris Boucher's intriguing premiere tale of primitive warriors, invisible creatures, a mysterious jungle, and a homicidal computer self-tortured from a previous long ago encounter with that scarf-loving Time Lord in the truly iconic form of Tom Baker. A tale importantly blessed with the introduction of the confident and sexy Sevateem warrior, Leela (Louise Jameson in a striking debut), and featuring two of the series best ever cliffhangers (Parts One and Three): The Face of Evil!
