John Stuart Mill on War

I have posted there words of John Stuart Mill on this site several times. However, just in case there are some of you who have not read them here they are again:

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

John Stuart Mill, 1806-1873

I put the quote here because of what I am reading by some bloggers that I really figured had better sense...as well as the obviously biased world wide media. I believe that Mill's words are as valid today as they were when he wrote them...maybe even more so.
