I was blessed to have run into the talented Kaylee Johnson on my lurking days. She sent me her new website that must be seen. She's so talent. I'm sure she won't disappoint. http://www.kayleejohnson.com/
Emerging vocalist and songwriter Kaylee Johnston is busy building a buzz around herself. This young, new artist is songwriting, recording, releasing music videos and touring Canada.
This Vancouverite produced her first demo at the young age of 16. From that came the song “Arms Around Me”; which garnered her: a finalist slot in the Canadian Radio Star songwriting competition; placement in a made-for-TV movie, a feature on CBC radio; plus a guest spot on the Jack FM morning show.
In early 2009, she began her next project with Musician/MTV Star Eric Solomon and released a three-song demo. The song “Ego” was featured on Virgin Radio’s Best of BC.
Eager to get back into the studio, Kaylee teamed utp with world-renowned producer/engineer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, State of Shock) in winter 2009 at Mushroom Studios. Out of this came the tunes “Streetlight” and “Bigger Than You” that would complete her first EP entitled: ‘Streetlight’
Her songs come from personal experiences about life and love. She delivers a vocal performance that is sweet yet powerful amid beats that mix chic electro with pop rock liveliness. The material, musicianship, performances and production are all first rate and attention to detail is prevalent.
Upon its release in the spring of 2010, ‘Streetlight’ has received critical acclaim. The release of the single “Bigger Than You” was to meet radio airplay with open arms, with over 20 major Radio Stations across Canada adding and spinning the song.
In support of ‘Streetlight,’ Kaylee Johnston has been busy throughout this summer and fall with the completion of two music videos and a Western Canadian tour.
Kaylee is currently hard at work on her next album. She, “plans to turn some heads,” and is, “stepping out of the box on this next one,” as quoted from a video interview with Hush Magazine.
With the momentum she has gained from her EP and the fan base she has developed with her energetic and entertaining live show, the stars are aligning to make a spot for this undeniable talent.
