College is all about being able to take care of yourself and make your own choices and decisions. It is about learning and expressing yourself. But, even with all of that freedom, it is still important to make appropriate decisions in regard to presenting yourself.
Because it has been so beautiful and downright hot recently, it has definitely brought out the sun dresses, shorts, and tanks a lot earlier. I personally love it. I love summer clothing because of the bright colors, more comfortable fits, and a much more relaxed feel. However, when I dress for class I keep in mind that other people are around me including professors, deans, faculty, staff, etc. This means that I don't wear super short-shorts, tube tops, or low cut/revealing items of clothing.
I say this because when it is hot, you want to wear as little as possible, but I have noticed that the weather has people dressing inappropriately on campus. The other day, I saw a girl walking through the halls of one of the buildings and she had a camisole on (you know the ones with the built in bras), and denim shorts that were so short, they looked like underwear. It actually made me feel uncomfortable. Now, let me say, I am totally for wearing tanks, norts occasionally, and flip flops to class and on campus... so I figured I would put together some Polyvores on how to dress for class and stay cool at the same time.

- If you want to dress down, a tennis skirt is a great choice. It's airy and breathable, but still looks put together.
- If you'd like to wear shorts, try going with structured shorts, like J. Crew's chino shorts. Lands End, L.L. Bean, and Ralph Lauren are also great places to find structured shorts. Chambray is a great material because it is light and breathable. I try to avoid overly fitted items because I feel like it constricts me in the hot weather.
- A simple shift dress is also a great choice. No sleeves, cut short, and airy. Flip flops are always my shoe of choice over cowboy boots or flats because they are easy to throw on and keep me a lot cooler.
