Add Some Sparkle

Since I am extremely attracted to shiny things, there was no way the Revlon display with four glittery top coats was going to escape my attention. There are four pairs of polishes in this collection, each pair consisting of a creme with a coordinating glitter top coat: red (Ruby and Slipper), gray/silver (Silver and Belle), purple (Rock and Roll), and black (Lunar and Galaxy).

I scooped up the glitters and left the cremes.

For swatching purposes, I pulled out cremes from my stash that I thought were close to the Revlon colors. For the gray, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Cement, which I think might be a bit darker than Revlon Silver. For the red, I picked Wet 'n' Wild Cherry Pop, which is probably a bit brighter and warmer than Revlon Ruby. For the purple, I chose China Glaze Grape Pop, which I think is pretty close to Revlon Rock. For the black, I used Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme, which I imagine is pretty much the same as Revlon Lunar (not considering coverage and formula, of course).

Galaxy struck me as the most interesting glitter, so I gave it a tryout over a variety of colors.

I like Galaxy best over the darker colors. On the lighter ones, the black glitter looks to me like I spilled pepper or dirt on my mani, and that doesn't really appeal to me. La Playa is my favorite of the bases—dark enough to not get the pepper effect yet the black glitter doesn't get lost entirely. Of course, La Playa is a favorite of mine un-layered, so I'm probably biased.
